Similar to a guardian of the estate, a conservator is appointed to manage a person's property and finances, and is under a continuing obligation to report to the court. In a conservatorship, the individual may have physical limitations or a long-term illness, but must be mentally competent, and must consent to giving certain responsibilities to a conservator appointed by the Court.
